Group Circle Newsletter – Spring 2024

The Group Circle is a newsletter from the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and the International Board for Certification of Group Psychotherapists. It highlights the recent AGPA Connect 2024 conference held at the Gaylord National Harbor Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland, which focused on the theme “Turbulent Times: Using Groups to Overcome Divisions and Foster Engagement.” The newsletter features various events and sessions from the conference, including Special Institutes on therapeutic work with forced migrants and survivors of torture, and existential living in turbulent times. It also discusses the importance of social connection for health and wellbeing, and the role of group leaders in addressing the climate crisis through a new Special Interest Group (SIG). Additionally, it includes updates on AGPA’s new officers and directors, member achievements, and reflections from the AGPA President on the organization’s strategic initiatives and the importance of group therapy in addressing mental health challenges.
