Proposals for Connect 2027
This year’s theme invites us to explore how groups foster resilience, connection, and transformation in challenging conditions. We look forward to learning from one another, sharing innovative ideas, and strengthening the relationships that sustain our professional community.Â
After careful consideration, AGPA Connect 2027 will be offered exclusively in person, reflecting our commitment to the rich interpersonal engagement, experiential learning, and meaningful dialogue that define the AGPA Connect experience. AGPA also plans to continue offering virtual educational programming throughout the year, creating additional opportunities for learning, participation, and professional development.Â
As the premier gathering for group psychotherapists, practitioners, educators, researchers, and trainees, AGPA Connect offers exceptional opportunities for professional growth through institutes, workshops, open sessions, experiential and demonstration groups, plenaries, and interactive discussions. We welcome proposals that advance the field through research, theory, clinical innovation, experiential learning, creative approaches, and emerging applications of group work.Â
Possible areas of exploration include:Â
- Strengthening human connection in an era of polarization and isolationÂ
- Responding to the complexity and intersectionality of human identitiesÂ
- Evidence-based and integrative approaches to group psychotherapyÂ
- The integration of creative arts in group practiceÂ
- Applications of neuroscience to group psychotherapyÂ
- Lessons learned from global crises, social conflict, and collective traumaÂ
- Fostering resilience, adaptation, and growth in groups facing complex challengesÂ
To encourage broad participation and create opportunities for a diverse range of voices, each individual may propose and participate in no more than two program events.Â
At AGPA, diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and social justice are fundamental to ethical group practice. All proposals must clearly address how issues related to diversity, inclusion, social justice, and/or anti-oppressive practice will be incorporated into the presentation.Â
We invite you to share your clinical wisdom, research, and creativity with a community of dedicated teacher-learners. We also ask that presenters review and adhere to the Guidelines for Creating Affirming and Restorative Group Experiences – AGPAÂ
The strength of AGPA Connect has always rested on the generosity, innovation, and expertise of its members. Whether you are presenting a well-established topic through a new lens or introducing an emerging idea, your contribution matters.Â
Priority Submission Deadline: August 3, 2026
Final Submission Deadline: August 10, 2026
*Proposals will be distributed to reviewers as they are received, and final program decisions will be made after the Final Submission Deadline to ensure that all proposals receive equitable consideration.Â
Proposals for the in-person AGPA Connect 2027 conference may be submitted through the online submission portal below. Presenters interested in future AGPA virtual educational programming will have an opportunity to indicate that interest during the submission process.
