AGPA Connect is designed for clinicians, as well as mental health workers, psychiatric residents and graduate students in mental health degree programs. It is composed of two major sections: the Institute and the Conference.
The Institute is held on Tuesday & Wednesday, February 26 & 27 (with Special Institute Presentations scheduled for Monday, February 25). The two-day Institute is devoted to small group teaching primarily in the experiential mode. The Conference is held on Thursday-Saturday, February 28-March 2 and offers a variety of formats, including courses, limited registration workshops as well as open session panels on special topics and original scientific paper sessions.
Mental health professionals currently working with groups or in training who wish to be kept abreast of new developments and expand the scope of their clinical practices.
After participating in AGPA Connect, attendees will be able to:

Identify, review and integrate basic group dynamic concepts into their group practice;

Compare the theoretical underpinnings of various schools of group therapy;

Conduct groups in a variety of settings with a broad range of populations;

Apply evidenced-based practices as they relate to group therapy.

Group Foundation Scholarships/Awards Available
Each year the Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health offers scholarships to AGPA Connect for individuals who might not otherwise be able to attend. Awards for creative use of group therapy are also available. Details on the awards and scholarships available as well as application information can be found here.
