Registration information, learning objectives, and references for the events listed below will be posted to the AGPA e-Learning Library approximately 1-2 months prior to each event date. Most of these events will be recorded and made available in the e-Learning Library approximately one week after the live event.

Online Institute - Safety, Dignity, and Belonging in a Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other People of Color Virtual Institute with Kavita Avula, PsyD, CGP - Saturdays, 3/30 and 4/13; 1:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern) / 10:00 am - 1:00 pm (Pacific) AND 5:00 - 8:00 pm (Eastern) / 2:00 - 5:00 pm (Pacific)

Safety can be elusive for people of color in groups and organizations worldwide, especially when groups are majority White.  Led by a facilitator of color, this group strives to create an experiential process group for people of color to be together outside of the "White gaze".  This group will explore how safety, dignity, and belonging can both be co-created and embodied.

July 2024

Online Institute - Process Group Experience with Shari Y. Baron, MSN, CNS, CGP, AGPA-F  - Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. each day (Eastern)

The process group experience sections will stress the basic elements of group functioning, development, here-and-now group process and examine both the dynamics and process of group psychotherapy. The Institute is structured to maximize learning about group formation, and the role of the leaders and participants in the establishment of group roles, boundaries, norms and structure. Generally, psychodynamic concepts including transference, individual and group resistance and defense mechanisms will be examined as they emerge in the group process. The contribution of the leader to the development of a cohesive and functional group will be examined. Please note that the process group experience sessions are predominantly used as an experiential learning tool rather than didactic sessions, although a didactic debriefing may be done by some facilitators. Please come to the sessions ready to share experiences and learn from each other. Additionally, in order to preserve confidentiality, please attend these sessions in your own physical space where others will not be able to overhear or listen in on the discussions.
